Horse Riding at the Voortrekker Monument

Cape Riding Horses are known for their loving nature, trustworthiness as well as hardness. We do outrides at the Voortrekker Monument Nature Reserve in Pretoria. Experienced riders will enjoy their forward moving nature and can enjoy a challenging ride. Inexperienced riders will enjoy them just as much as they are well disciplined and patient.
Join our riding club and get discount on all your rides or simply bring your family and relax in nature on horseback.

The Voortrekker Monument consists of 340ha, which includes Fort Schanskop and connected to the Freedom Park. Animals such as zebra, impala, springbuck, and black wildebeest are often seen on the outrides. The annual visitor log is approximately 180 000.

From the Monument you have a fantastic view of the Jacaranda city. The city lights are especially captivating at night.

The purpose of the outrides, is to make more people aware of the type of horse we are breeding. During the Anglo Boer war, about 500 000 horses were killed. We are attempting to re-establish this endemic horse breed in South Africa. We also endeavour to expose people to the exhilarating experience of riding a well-trained horse on open ground.
